Spring Cleaning

Blueberries pruned, fertilized and mulched.

If you look real close this Romaine salad (seeds from 09) have sprouted. It has been very cold and wet. This is the same romaine that survived 15 F.

Garden bed that I will plant beans in this summer. Last falls clippings, bunny and chicken manure, and kitchen compost have been added all winter. The chickens and ducks have been given access to this area. They really pick through and scratch things up. Great for speeding up of the composting process.

Rasberries pruned, fertilized and mulched. The berries on the left produce two crops per year. The new canes of last year produced berries at the top. These parts were pruned off and the lower half will produce berries this year. The berries on the right produce berries once per year on one year old canes. These berries are the sweetest and my favorite although not as prolific the berries on the left.
